The Creative Icon Design Project
We see icons everywhere -- on the road, at the airport, at the ATM machine, on bike trails, and of course, on computers.
The word icon comes directly from Greek, where it means "image", and in a graphical user interface, icons convey objects or tasks.
Design of an effective icon within the confines of a small grid of pixels requires clarity, simplicity, and careful consideration
32 pixels X 32 pixels has been a standard size for computer-based icons. For this project, students will design and create a number of icons within the pixel constraint of 32 X 32 using only black, white, grayscale, and shades of one color.
